Akan Udofia's Governorship Quest Hits Brick wall.
By Udofia Anana
It is not yet Uhuru for Obong Akanimo Udofia whose APC governorship nomination was announced amidst widespread protests in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital city, recently.
The announcement which came after a hurried midnight poll has been roundly rejected by party members and close party watchers.
Obong Udofia, known to many as AK,was a governorship aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party, until four days to the APC primaries in the state.
An APC stalwart who spoke to the reporter on the condition of anonymity in Uyo said Akan Udofia's Governorship candidacy lacks credibility because he was not elected by party delegates.
According to him," After waiting at the party Secretariat on Ekpo Obot street, Uyo for eight hours,we were told to go home, that the nomination had been postponed till the next day. It was therefore shocking to hear that Obong Akanimo Udofia was elected in the night after the delegates had dispersed".
Following this,Obong Akanimo Udofia has continued to suffer rejection by Akwa Ibom people.
The embattled politician has been seen in Abuja lobbying support for his hackneyened ambition. Party sources in Abuja confirmed that he has made many offers of huge financial payouts to influential lobbyists once he gets into office. These efforts appear to have failed because the offers were being rebuffed at the time of filling this report.
