APC MULLS CONSENSUS OPTION FOR A'IBOM GUBER

By Ubon Nkaiso

Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress in Akwa Ibom state have begun to mount pressure on the party's national leadership to adopt the consensus option in choosing the governorship candidate of the party.

This development, our reporter learnt is to diffuse the tension generated by the skewed primary election that produced   Obong Akanimo Udofia, last week.

The election which has been roundly condemned on all sides has become a burden to the party in the state.

Following this,a group of party elders have begun conciliatory moves to bring party faithful and leaders under one roof.

"We must close ranks, come to together and speak in one voice to capture power in this state. You know that Obong Akanimo Udofia was not properly elected by party delegates. It was a kangaroo arrangement which has no place in this day and age. This is why we are talking to the leadership at the national to consider a candidate from known aspirants",a top ranking APC faithful disclosed.

Corroborating this position, a former Assemblyman in the state legislature, Engineer Ime Mbom said the consensus option remains the best for the APC in the state.

He said"Yes,Iam part of the talks to bring all leaders together. We are pushing for the consensus option to bring peace to the party. When you have a flawed election and widespread protests such as we have had, you have to bring in the contenders and choose".

Checks from Abuja reveal that three aspirants namely Engr. Larry Esin, Senator Ita Enang and Austin Utuk are being considered for the APC top job.

Akan Udofia's Governorship Quest Hits Brick wall.

Akan Udofia's Governorship Quest Hits Brick wall. By Udofia Anana It is not yet Uhuru for Obong Akanimo Udofia  whose APC governorship nomination was announced amidst widespread protests in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital city, recently. The announcement which came after a hurried midnight poll has been roundly rejected by party members and close party watchers. Obong Udofia, known to many as AK,was a governorship aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party, until  four days to the APC primaries in the state.  An APC stalwart who spoke to the reporter on the condition of anonymity in Uyo said Akan Udofia's  Governorship candidacy lacks credibility because he was not elected by party delegates. According to him," After waiting at the party Secretariat on Ekpo Obot street, Uyo for eight hours,we were told to go home, that the nomination had been postponed till the next day. It was therefore shocking to hear that Obong Akanimo Udofia was elected in the night after the delegates

Nigeria Being Brought To Ruin By Useless Criminals’, TY Danjuma Knocks Military, Insists On Self-Defence Kayode Oyero

‘ Updated October 22, 2022 Former Chief of Army Staff, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, says Nigeria is being brought to ruin by heavily armed “useless” criminals. The former defence minister, who insisted on self-defence to drive out country’s common “enemy”, said Nigeria will be finished if this is not done. The octogenarian spoke on Saturday when he delivered a goodwill message in Wukari, Taraba State, where Governor Darius Ishaku presented staff of office to His Majesty Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, the 25th Aku Uka. He knocked the military for living in denial over Nigeria’s aggravating security challenges, saying the “evidence” of what he said four years ago is now obvious for all eyes to see. Danjuma had in March 2018 urged Nigerians to defend themselves against their killers but his call for self-defence attracted stark criticisms. Four years later, the former defence chief on Saturday said, “Our country is under siege by armed bandits, all over the country when some few years ago, I warned
