The Book Titled Okpoyo the Obedient Child is a story of two brothers: Abang and Okpoyo in Ugaragba village.
Abang was stubborn, disrespectful and disobedience to his parents. He was never interested in going to church and school, he was only relevant whenever there was problems or communal crises between his village and the neighbouring villages.
On the other hand, Okpoyo was respectful, obedience, humble and peaceful. He was always attending church activities with his parents, he was serious about going to school, and was always used by the village head as their interpreter whenever they had a visitor who couldn't understand their language.
Both of them grew up as different personalities in Ugaragba village, the stubborn Abang was hated and isolated by all while Okpoyo was loved and accepted by all.
In the process of time, Abang was caught with a short gun and he spent 45 years in prison, while Okpoyo became a councilor and highly educated man. He sent his children to better schools and they got better jobs and lived a better life, while Oyokunyi, the only child Abang had when he came out of the prison was hawking sachets water and washing car glasses at the traffic lights.
The story is explained in colour pictures and it is divided into four parts to facilitate learning. The book OKPOYO THE OBEDIENT CHILD teaches children how to be discipline, hardworking and self dependent.
The book will show your children how Oyokunyi who was from a poor background, later worked on himself, stopped selling and begging at the traffic lights, went back to school and became great in life.
It is an experience we wish our children to have. It exposes the dangers of joining bad gangs in school and builds in them self confidence and how to be great in life. Please get a copy for your child in nursery and primary schools. Catch them young.
